Smallpox vaccination

I can no longer even see my polio vaccination scar from the 1940s.

I've never figured out why I don't have a smallpox vaccination scar. Good cartoon!

Nobody (today) with a child that young would even HAVE the scar, period. Are you sure you HAD the polio vaccination? Aren't you too young?

I know that for polio, I was given sugar cubes with the vaccine in them for at least one dose, but I think my daughter got a shot? Now it's all a blur. I bet your're right and I did not get a smallpox vaccine.

The sugar cube sounds about right to me. I don't know what someone your daughter's age would get, but the vaccination with scarring was last done in MY generation, I think. My retired nurse practitioner friend may be able to tell me, and I'll try to remember to ask her the next time I talk to her.
