Thursday Thoughts

Let me share some of what I've been thinking about lately:

1.  "When nothing goes right, go left."  Hey, I love that idea for positive thinking! I read that online, and it really appealed to me:

2.
I was notified that I had a delivery, but I did not find it on the delivery table at either of our buildings.  I finally found it on the table at the outside entry to the Café — it's that white package in the far corner.  That table is where
Café orders called in can be picked up, not a delivery table.  But look at all the deliveries!

3.  My Thursday Thoughts from a couple of weeks ago featured rain.  On the first day of July, it hit again, and the sky darkened like night.  It was even darker than in this photo I took of the other storm.

4.  That makes me think of "April showers bring spring flowers."  Yeah, but this was not a mere "shower."  A torrent of rain poured down on us!

5.  We still had power, but friends in two different apartment buildings around me lost power from the storm.

6.  The Future Is Analog: How to Create a More Human World ~ by David Sax, 2022, technology, 289 pages.  One of my friends without power texted that — ironically — she was able to finish this book.  Then she added, "I'm certainly having an analog kind of day!"  I looked it up online, decided I need to read it, and put it on reserve at my library.  I will tell you more once I get the book.

7.  "Pickleball Noise Is Driving Everyone Nuts . . . The hubbub has given new meaning to the phrase racket sport, testing the sanity of anyone within earshot of a game," to quote the New York Times.  What's so bad about it?  "Two factors — the high pitch of a hard paddle slamming a plastic ball and the erratic, often frantic rhythm of the smacks — also contribute to its uncanny ability to drive bystanders crazy."

8.  Here's a Pickleball video from YouTube:

9.  For the first time ever, I bought a book for my Kindle and couldn't get it downloaded.  The money was taken from my bank account, but still no book.  I had read the first chapter online, so I really, really wanted to keep reading!  Why wouldn't it download?

10.  Reuters headline:  World registers hottest day ever recorded on July 3:  "The average global temperature reached 17.01 degrees Celsius (62.62 Fahrenheit), surpassing the August 2016 record of 16.92C (62.46F) as heatwaves sizzled around the world."

11.  I was asked what m
y favorite breakfast is, so I took this photo of the English Egg and Avocado Melt on the menu at the Café at the Crown Center to show her.  Here's what is in it:  egg, havarti dill, avocado, and roasted tomato with Everything seasoning, served on a toasted English muffin.

Added later:  Well, it looks like I've got my days mixed up, since it isn't Thursday until tomorrow.  Oh, well, enjoy anyway.
