The Read-a-Thon starts at the same time all over the world. I'm in the Eastern time zone of the United States, so the starting bell for me is at 8:00 a.m. this Saturday, October 22, 2011.
Here's what I posted in 2007, when I participated in my first ever Read-a-Thon.
Have you checked out Dewey's challenging 24-hour Read-a-Thon?
Be a reader .........
......... a cheerleader
a promoter .................
.......... but be a part of it!

How cool!
I have signed up and, of course, the weekend is stacking up to be pretty packed, but I am going to give it my best shot.
So Bonnie, can I sign up to be a reader even if I know I'll only read an hour or two?
Yes, Jan, the amount of time each of us spends is up to us and what's in our schedules. This whole thing is supposed to be fun and community-building, not more work or worry. So yes, sign up and go with the flow. In other words, enjoy the day!
Helen, I'll visit you to see how it's going in your neck of the woods. We three are spread across the United States:
Bonnie in Tennessee
Jan in Texas (I think)
Helen in California
Have fun with the read-athon! I am going to be missing it this year.
