The clock on the wall ticked, slowly counting down the seconds until Trina Cook regained her freedom. I thought I had escaped the horrors of exams, except that now I'm doing a language course and have an exam coming up soon... This sounds like a really intriguing book, interweaving the present and the past. I hope you have a lovely weekend :)
