I don't have many nicknames though I am sometimes called Helly or Hels. My exhusband gives EVERYONE a nickname so I often didn't know people's real names!
I was called "Yo" in my senior year in high school. I always went by my middle name, but senior year was when everyone got outed by the most formal versions of their names. My classmates were amused to learn that my first name was actually "Yolanda."
I enjoyed having a nickname for a year, but it didn't stick since I encountered East Coast people in college who used "Yo" to mean "Hi" or "Hey" or "What's up?"
