This week, I have an agenda. You ask questions, and I'll try to answer them — right here, today, in the comments following this post. I got this idea from Sheila @ Book Journey, who took it from Jill @ Fizzy Thoughts, who told Sheila, "I stole this from other people, so you’re continuing a fine tradition." Sheila's and Jill's readers had a variety of questions:
"Have you always lived in Minnesota?"I have a question for you, as well:
"How many hours do you read in a day?"
"Were you a cheerleader in high school?"
"Do you schedule posts in advance?"
"So what are you wearing on your feet?"
"What book would you want to receive for Christmas this year?"
"What do you think is the most important thing to living a good life?"
"What's your favorite triangular-shaped kind of dessert?"
"What wonderful book would you recommend I read in the coming year?"

Bonnie,
1. What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
2. What is your favorite restaurant?
3. If money was no object, where would you like to go, and what would you do?
4. What is your dream job?
Geek Love and A Fine Balance. My all time favorite books.
The questions have started, almost immediately!
Sheila asked four questions:
1. I like to study, which nowadays means reading and writing and blogging.
2. My favorite restaurant is the Acropolis, a fine Greek restaurant.
3. If money were no object, I'd like to visit all my book buddies, the way I did, starting back in 1998, traveling up the east coast and to the middle of the country -- but I didn't make it to see the ones in California and Washington State yet (for example) -- and the list has grown since then.
4. My dream job would be teaching workshops around the counry (the world?) and publishing information from the workshops in best-selling books.
Madge suggested two books for me.
1. If I remember correctly, Madge, Geek Love was your favorite book even before ...
2. ... we Book Buddies read A Fine Balance together back in the 1990s.
What words of wisdom would you choose to pass on to your great grandchildren?
What would be the perfect gift from Santa this year?
Helen asked two questions:
5. The first "words of wisdom" that came to mind for passing along to my great-grandchildren are some version of the Golden Rule, found in most of the world's religions and ethical traditions: treat others as you would want to be treated, and don't do to them what you wouldn't want done to you.
6. The perfect gift from Santa every year would be a book. But it would differ based on the recipient. I got A You're Adorable for a little one (all the words of that song, illustrated) and the gorgeous 10th Anniversary Edition of The Secret Life of Bees for ... uh ... someone older. For myself? A gift card to a bookstore.
Great responses Bonnie - know that is you are in the Minnesota area to look me up!
Thanks, Sheila. Interesting to note that the couple who own the Acropolis (my favorite restaurant) are featured on today's Sunday "Dining Out" section of our newspaper.
Sheila suggested two books for me on her blog:
3. The Knife of Never Letting Go ~ by Patrick Ness, which I've put on reserve at my library.
4. Ready Player One, which my library doesn't have.
And of the two Madge suggested, the library doesn't have Geek Love, and I've read and already have a copy of A Fine Balance.
This is a very cute idea. I don't have any questions, but I would recommend the Night Circus if you haven't read it yet.
LBC suggested one book:
5. Night Circus ~ by Erin Morgenstern, which I've put on reserve at my library, even though I'm fifth in line for it. Thanks, LBC.
Oh,I love this kind of conversation!
Love your cozy fireplace setting...and the popcorn looks delicious. As for questions: what books are you looking forward to in 2012?
My favorite book recently was Best Kept Secret...and the review is here at MY SUNDAY SALON POST and
MY WEBSITE
Laurel-Rain asked one question:
7. The books I am looking forward to in 2012 are the ones I need to write. I've done the research and first drafts, so now I need to sit down and re-write, tighten up, and polish.
As for reading, I look forward to those suggested today (thanks, Madge, Sheila, LBC, and Laurel-Rain) and the many I've unpacked from moving boxes to make a book tree for Christmas. read long ago, some I read long ago, some I skimmed and never got back to, and some are still new to me.
Laurel-Rain also recommended one book:
6. Best Kept Secret is not in my library system, so I can't get it right away, even though 32 people at BN.com rate it a 5 and the only other person to rate it says it's a 4. That's high praise, people!
Confession time: I do have a fireplace, but I found this cozy spot for our "salon" discussion online. Sorry. When I finish making my book tree, I'll try to get the fireplace in the photo I post.
Oops! That was Amazon.com with 32+1. BN.com has 14+4, rating it 5 and 4, respectively, with nothing lower. Still high numbers.
