Helen, I actually worked in the library of a private school in the 1970s, while I was completing my bachelor's degree.

David Clapp, head of the library system, commented on Facebook:
"Much appreciated, Bonnie. If anyone wonders why South Chattanooga stays open 5 days a week while the larger branches are only open 4, you have explained it well. We employee 2 full-time and one part-time person there, and basic security demands at least 2 people working at all times. Whenever there is an illness or vacation, the branch would close if there was not you or someone else to cover a few of the hours during lunches. Reducing the staff any further to save money would mean closing the branch entirely. Volunteers like you make a huge difference."
It's so great when volunteers are appreciated! Our local libraries are slowly closing their doors 2 days a week as well.
With your love and knowledge of books this will be a perfect job for you, Bonnie! Have fun!
