Library Loot ~ December 7-13

Zen Shorts ~ by Jon J. Muth, 2005, children's, 8/10
Stillwater, an appealingly chubby panda, moves into the neighborhood, bringing companionship and wisdom to two brothers and a sister.  Their friendship unfolds amid shared tea and cake, paper airplanes, and Stillwater's gentle retelling of three Zen tales that touch on universal themes such as forgiveness, acceptance, and generosity.
The Twenty-Four Days Before Christmas: An Austin Family Story ~ by Madeleine L'Engle, 1984, children's, 9/10
Vicky Austin’s family does one special thing each day of December to prepare for Christmas.  This year, they’re also preparing for the birth of a new brother or sister, due after the New Year.  Vicky is worried that the baby will come early — what kind of Christmas Eve would it be without Mother to help them hang up stockings and sing everyone to sleep with carols?
Library Loot is a weekly meme co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.  Claire has the Mister Linky this week, if you'd like to share the loot you brought home.  You may submit your link any time during the week.

Zen Shorts sounds cute and who can resist L'Engle?

I've never read L'Engle! I know it is a shortfall in my reading!

Enjoy your loot!

Like the artwork on Zen shorts. Is it illustrated in the same style inside?

Sean, yes, it's a picture book and the artist is Jon J Muth. I went to the library today and got a whole bunch of books by Muth, read them, and got a post up this evening about his artwork, just for you (and me, because I'm enjoying his artwork).
