Thursday Thoughts ~ Mediterranean food

The Mediterranean diet is a way of eating that emphasizes plant foods and healthy fats:
  • Eat mostly:  vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, potatoes, whole grains, herbs, spices, fish, seafood, and extra virgin olive oil.
  • Eat in moderation:  poultry, eggs, cheese, and yogurt.
  • Eat rarely or not at all:  red meat, sugar-sweetened beverages, added sugars, processed meat, refined grains, refined oils, and other highly processed foods.
  • Drink:  mostly water (and limit yourself to five ounces of red wine daily).
  • Fish and seafood are the preferred protein sources.  Limit red meat to only a few times a month.
I plan to get a Mediterranean Panini and the Greek salad in the Circle@Crown Café today.  I'll take home a Cheesy Tuna Melt to eat tomorrow, when the Café is closed.
