Today is National Black Cat Appreciation Day

August 17 is National Black Cat APPRECIATION Day and a day for me to remember Clawdia, my little black fur buddy with a white heart on her chest.  (P.S.  I also wrote about National Black Cat Appreciation Day, HERE, back in 2020.  This day should NOT be confused with the one from 2018 below:

Saturday, October 27, 2018 = National Black Cat Day ~ for Clawdia

This Caturday post celebrates my very favorite black cat ... CLAWDIA ... yay!
  1. On Monday, I mused about a book of historical fiction set in 1918 in Nova Scotia, HERE.
  2. On TWOsday, I posted a couple of quotes I want to remember from Jonathan Livingston Seagull, HERE.
  3. Thursday's subject, HERE, was what it feels like to be elderly.
  4. On Friday, I posted the beginning of a book about Bernie Sanders, HERE.

Today is National Black Cat Appreciation Day

National Black Cat Appreciation Day is August 17th.

That's today!  Clawdia, I appreciate you!
FACTS
  • Black cats are about half as likely to be adopted as other cats.
  • There are actually 22 cat breeds that have solid black coats.
  • Clawdia is not solid black, since she has a white spot under her chin.  See it there in the top photo?

National Black Cat Appreciation Day

Sandy just called to tell Clawdia she appreciated her, because today is National Black Cat Appreciation Day.  Oh, no, I almost missed it.  Sure enough, I found this cat's picture with "Mon Aug 17" and all sorts of facts about black cats, if you want to read that page.

This is my favorite black cat, though, and this is currently my favorite photo of her.  I call this window Clawdia's window because she loves to sit there looking out, sniffing the fresh air, watching the birds flit by, and listening to them chirp to each other in the trees just below our sixth floor windows.  It's the photo of her I have in the right sidebar of the blog, too.
