There are souls who are born in bustling metropoli such as Toad Suck, Arkansas or Tuba City, Arizona, spend their entire adult lives there, then are gently laid to rest beneath their native dirt without ever having seen the lights of Paris — or Peoria, for that matter. Sounds like it could be an interesting book, although that opening seems a little dismissive to me. But maybe that's just me.
