Beginning ~ with useless information

The Book of Useless Information ~ 2011

Apparently, whoever edited this book considered it TRULY useless information and didn't bother to give us the name of the person or persons who collected these 704 pages of stuff.  The only thing on the title page besides the name of the book is the publisher, whose name is a non-name:  Publications International, Ltd.  The "introduction" gives us more non-information:
What exactly makes information "useless"? ... Whether you're looking for odd facts and trivia to share with friends at your next cocktail party, or if you simply love learning about the stranger facets of life, The Book of Useless Information is bound to entertain and enlighten.
But the first actual bit of useless information we find is on the cover.  You can see it for yourself in the illustration above.
Earth is the only planet not named after a god.
On the back of the hardback edition (I doubt if there's a paperback) is another bit of useless information:
It is a very sad thing that nowadays there is so little useless information. — Oscar Wilde
My daughter Sandra sent me this book for Christmas.  Did you get any books over the holidays?

Wow! What an interesting read! I have never even seen/heard of this book! To think that it's 704 pages long and doesn't even have an author with it. I hope you enjoy it!

I didn't get any books this Christmas unless you count the one I wrapped for myself. ;) I did however get my family books since there always so much fun to buy! Happy Friday! :)

No books for me this year, but I did get collectibles and a gift card for The Cheesecake Factory, a restaurant I enjoy.

Thanks for sharing, and here's mine: “CATCH ME”

This sounds like the kind of book that would be fun to have on hand, especially for trivia buffs! I gave myself a couple of books for Christmas and will be featuring them on my blog soon.
My Friday post features CHORUS LINES, CAVIAR AND CORPSES.

Not books this year. I think my children looked at the stacks in my house and decided not to add to them. I love the useless information you shared. The book looks like fun.

Didn't receive books too since I beg them not to give any. Haha!

Haven't heard of this but it sounds interesting :)

What an odd and interesting book! I got about 5 books for Christmas, including an expose of Scientology, a novel set in Saudi Arabia, and The Preppy Handbook (from my teen years!)
