Wednesday Workout ~ yoga

My doctor said, "Exercise."  Walking is good, and I can swim in the pool (now open for the summer).  But when the office sent out a notice that yoga will be offered at the clubhouse every Thursday, I signed up.  I took yoga classes when I was younger, so I know it can be adapted to what each person can accomplish.  I envision doing poses like the one in this photo, though realistically I don't know if I'll ever do it because I broke my shoulder six months ago and may never be able to get my arm that perfectly straight up again.  Wish me luck — or better, wish me perseverance.  The more I do, the better off I'll be.

I have tried Yoga more than once and I found it so difficult. I hurt everywhere. I would rather just walk, swim or do resistance and balance exercises. The only part of loved about Yoga is when you rest. Good luck.

Thanks, Madge. I took yoga classes in the 1970s, about four decades ago. I know I can ease off what the others are doing and go at my own speed, so I'm not hurting (much) after my Thursday evening class. I'm only hurting a bit because I'm still healing from the broken shoulder. I told the others before we started, so they understood when I had to modify my poses because I can't hold my right arm straight up or push myself into various positions with that arm. I'm old enough to be the mother or grandmother of the others in the class, and I don't intend to compete with them.
