One hundred years ago, in 1912, Juliette Low gathered eighteen girls to register the first troop of American Girl Guides in Savannah. The name of the organization was changed to Girl Scouts the following year. From the original eighteen girls, Girl Scouting has grown to 2.6 million members. Cady, age 12, is one of them. My daughter Barbara, once a Scout herself, sent this photo to my cell phone yesterday. She's one of the mothers who accompanied the girls on this trip.
