Beginning ~ with a willow tree

A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty ~ by Joshilyn Jackson, 2012, fiction (Mississippi)
My daughter, Liza, put her heart in a silver box and buried it under the willow tree in our backyard.
Of course, I immediately wanted to know what is in that silver box and why Liza buried it under the willow tree — or anywhere.  What's going on?  What's going to happen?  Kathy @ Bermuda Onion recently shared a great video of the author, which made me want to read the book even more.

My first thought when I saw this cover was "my mother would love this dress". At every age my mom wants me to wear a green and white checkered dress!

Hi Bonnie,

Great opening lines and a fantastic specimen of a willow tree, it is huge!

I have heard nothing but good things about this book from other bloggers, yet have not come across the first few lines before.

It is already on my reading list, so all the extra information I keep gathering about it, is only building up the anticipation of how good it is going to be.

Thanks for a lovely post and have a good weekend.

Yvonne
